SPARK! Creative Lab is looking for a creative, community-minded human to join our team in a paid internship position. The Social Media & Content Creation Intern will help cultivate a social media presence that reflects the unique culture and community values at the heart of SPARK!
SPARK! is an Oklahoma nonprofit that brings Veterans and artists together, using creativity as a pathway to expression, connection, and community well-being. Working with the executive director, program leaders, filmmaker, designer, and content strategist, the intern will help share SPARK!’s arts-focused programs and community collaborations across social media and digital platforms.
The right person will be passionate about community, possess a collaborative spirit, and bring creativity, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
SPARK! warmly welcomes Veterans and military-connected individuals to apply, as well as anyone who shares our commitment to Veteran-centered arts, creative expression, and community-building.
Duties:
Content creation: Design graphics, edit short-form videos, and write captions. When available, assist with taking photos and recording video at occasional SPARK! workshops and events.
Content collaboration: Work with SPARK!’s filmmaker to review workshop footage and transform selected material into engaging, platform-appropriate social content, including short-form videos, clips, captions, and related posts. Follow SPARK!’s approval, consent, and respectful-storytelling practices when working with participant footage.
Content organization: Organize photographs, videos, captions, and other digital assets so they are easy for the team to locate and use.
Content scheduling: Help maintain a weekly content calendar and schedule approved posts using social media management tools.
Community engagement: According to an agreed-upon schedule, monitor comments and direct messages, respond to routine inquiries using SPARK!’s voice, and refer sensitive or program-related questions to staff.
Creative marketing: Research trends and brainstorm creative, mission-aligned ideas for reaching and engaging SPARK!’s audiences.
Analytics tracking: Measure basic performance indicators such as post engagement, reach, video views, and follower trends, and help identify what content resonates with our community.
Respectful and accessible storytelling: Help ensure content involving Veterans, artists, and program participants is shared with appropriate consent, accuracy, and care. Apply accessibility practices such as video captions and image descriptions.
Requirements:
Working knowledge of video-first platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels
Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
Clear, engaging writing and a good eye for visual content
Basic experience with creative tools such as Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Canva, or comparable platforms
Strong organization, reliability, attention to detail, and openness to feedback
Genuine respect for people with varied backgrounds and lived experiences
You do not need to bring experience in every area listed above.. We encourage emerging creatives who are eager to learn to apply.
What You’ll Gain
Hands-on experience creating content for a mission-driven arts nonprofit
Guidance and feedback from SPARK!’s leadership and content team
Experience in content planning, community engagement, ethical storytelling, and social media analytics
Experience collaborating with a professional filmmaker to adapt workshop footage into compelling short-form digital stories
Opportunities to develop portfolio-ready work with appropriate permissions
The chance to learn alongside Oklahoma Veterans, artists, and community partners
Schedule, Compensation & Academic Credit
This is a paid internship of up to 10 hours per week for 12 weeks, with the opportunity to renew. Compensation is $15 per hour.
