Creative Lab to provide a large scale floral installation, bringing awareness to criminalized survivors of domestic violence in the State of Oklahoma and beyond. Flower farmers, wholesale florists, & other leaders in the international floral industry are joining together to support The Wild Mother as this team of sisters facilitate collective healing and community care through art in a project The Wild Mother calls #SendFlowersTo.

The installation’s April 20th opening will provide its audience with an empathetic look into the lives of criminalized survivors of domestic violence and an opportunity for a hands-on community response. Follow the hashtag, #SendFlowersToSurvivors to engage the movement.

Directed by Award-winning filmmaker and SPARK! company member Zachary Burns, The Cultivation of YIELD documents how this creative exploration to heal a community blossomed into a history-making project, YIELD: We Belong to the Land at Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in May 2022. 

Responding to the effects of the pandemic and an era of fear, loss and injustice that further fractured and siloed our community, a diverse group of 25 Oklahoma artists came together, with over 300 members of the OKC community, to explore the importance of – and our connection to – the land beneath our feet. Through music, poetry, dance, theater, visual art, and the humanities, SPARK! Creative Lab celebrated the land and people of Oklahoma City, in all its complex glory.

In this intimate event, we invite you to embark on a love-infused journey into healing and self with “Only Feed Me Life,” a raw, honest and gentle collection of poetry from beloved poet and writer Jerome Braggs. Using the perspective that poetry is medicine, too, breakout poet Jerome Braggs escorts readers through an exploration of lessons in life, relationships, self-healing, and body image, all of which shine a light on what it takes to face the wholeness of ourselves, and heal.
